“Everybody Street illuminates the lives and work of New York’s iconic street photographers and the incomparable city that has inspired them for decades. The documentary pays tribute to the spirit of street photography through a cinematic exploration of New York City, and captures the visceral rush, singular perseverance and at times immediate danger customary to these artists. Covering nine decades of street photography, “Everybody Street” explores the careers and influences of many notable photographers––a number of whom have never been documented, featuring: Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Jill Freedman, Bruce Gilden, Joel Meyerowitz, Rebecca Lepkoff, Mary Ellen Mark, Jeff Mermelstein, Clayton Patterson, Ricky Powell, Jamel Shabazz, Martha Cooper, and Boogie, with historians Max Kozloff and Luc Sante."

BoogieVladimir Milivojevich, aka Boogie, is documentary photographer who was born and raised in Belgrade, During his childhood in the 1990's, the country of Yugoslavia had a rebellion that turned into a civil war where many families that were used to the relaxing-low-crime-rate city were turned upside down. Around the area where he lived, many people turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with what was going around them at the time. Around this time his father, who was an amateur photographer, gave him a camera and he started to document what was going on around him, rather than turn to crime himself. 'Boogie' usually takes images in and around projects within New York, of crime, poverty and drug taking. The images are sad, and sometimes disturbing because they show shocking images of people with guns, and blatant drug abuse, usually photographs which we would never usually see. For me these images show an alternative view of life in some areas within New York.

Looking DownStreet photographers sometimes take pictures looking down, and these are some that I took myself. I took the pictures in and around the building and I used an IPod to take them. my favourite image out of the ones I took is the first one because there's a lot of different shapes in the photo at that angle and it makes it look really interesting.

Shadows and ReflectionsThese are some pictures I took of shadows and reflections. I took photos of a range of different surfaces like glass, plastic to capture reflections and I took pictures of different floor surfaces such as the ground outside and the floor inside. The image I like the most is the image of the path outside with the shadows of the lamp post reflected onto the path.

CroppingIn this set I took cropped pictures of things. I used the IPod with an app called Hipstamatic to make the pictures look more interesting. I took close up images of lots of different things. For example, shoes; surfaces; corners; railings; etc. My favourite image is of my shoe because there are loads of different textures and by cropping it, the shoe looks very interesting and gives it an abstract perspective. It also looks like an authentic street photo.

SurfacesThese are pictures I took of different surfaces. Some of them are natural, some are man made. So, for example, I took photos of metal and concrete surfaces, as well as the trees, some wood chipping and grass. I like these images because there's lots of different patterns and textures. My favourite picture is the picture of the tree because there are lots of interesting swirling patterns. It changes the perspective of the bark and doesn't look like it is part of the tree anymore. It is very abstract.
